One of the most important attributes in Brazilian Jiu jitsu is having a solid base and to achieve a solid base you will need to know/feel where you and your opponent’s center of balance is located. This warm up drill is one way that I get our members to start knowing and feeling their center of balance while being in a dynamic environment.
Forward pressure is very important in maintaining the open guard and establishing a solid guard recovery. In this video I show one of the warm up drills I use to develop the muscle memory of “forward pressure”. I then show briefly how it is used with an opponent.
