In my post Principles for Academy Leadership the first principle is “Have a vision.” The next three post will outline our vision of where Impact jiu jitsu Newberg is going and how we’re going to get there.
Have a vision- Develop a strong sense of where you want to go. You may not begin with a clear end state, but you should at least have some guiding principles. The end state will emerge before long, and you can begin to articulate it more specific terms. Develop goals along the way – future milestones – so you can measure progress and share the achievements.
The foundation of our vision is built on Impact JJ’s mission statement and our brand promise:
Mission statement (MS)- First and foremost, we are dedicated to meeting our existing members’ needs. We strive to stay current and relevant in our instruction and class offerings. We insist on maintaining a clean, safe and constructive environment at all times. We empower our members to reach their potential and help them enjoy doing it.
Brand Promise (BP)- IMPACT is an Oregon-based company that specializes in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, Fitness and Sports Performance Training. We deliver the most satisfying results through a close network of friends, families and communities.
Where is Impact going? The goal has always been to be the best Brazilian Jiu jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts and Sport Performance Gym in the Northwest. Ten different people can interpret “The best” ten different ways, but I define “the best” based off of our mission statement and our brand promise.
How are we going to get there? There are several parts of our mission statement and brand promise that really help in this definition of “the best.”
1. MS- First and foremost, we are dedicated to meeting our existing member’s needs.
BP- We will deliver the most satisfying results through a close network of friends, families and communities. Most members want two things: to improve in BJJ, MMA or physical fitness and to feel a belonging to something worthwhile (which is always tied to relationships). We will become the best by having each member improve his/her skill set (through great coaching and coaching techniques) while also improving their social network and social bonds.
