1000 training hours

600 flighthours from Christian Graugart on Vimeo.

I have been following Christian Graurat’s blog for several years now and have been blown away by his creativity and openness. And something that makes Christian even cooler to follow is that he has connections to Portland and Coach Michael Chapman.

One of the many ideas that he has is to reach 1000 hours of flight time. After three and half years of tracking he is at the 400+ hour mark.

Two years ago I started tracking my training hours i.e. time I was on the mat teaching, free sparring or technique training (with wife, kids and day job flight time only would take me 50 years). Since I have been tracking my training time I’ve been able to see solid data related to the hours on the mat and the improvement in my jiu jitsu growth. My coaches have always said you need flight time, you have to get on the mat and train and I have always listened. Now (thanks to Christian) I have the data to prove it, if you want to make consistent improvement in jiu jitsu you have to put the time in to your training……..uh weird………get on the mat guys!
